Delivering the countryside to the classroom!
The Newbury & District Agricultural Society pride themselves on delivering fun, hands-on learning events and activities that are focused on food, farming and the countryside.
Our Education Officer, Jan Murray visits schools throughout the academic year, offering activities in the classroom but also holding events here on the Newbury Showground, and at a couple of venues in east Berkshire, enabling children to experience the great outdoors in a safe environment.
Our Education Programme is open to all schools across Berkshire, South Oxfordshire, East Wiltshire and North Hampshire and can be tailored to individual school requirements or you can simply book one of Jan’s seasonal events.
There is no cost to schools for any part of the Education programme. We do suggest you book as soon as possible though, as events do book up very quickly.
To make a booking or if you have a query, contact Jan on education@newburyshowground.co.uk

Donations
A not-for-profit organisation, the Newbury & District Agricultural Society’s key mission is to engage children in the countryside and boost their appreciation of the vital role of the British Farming industry by educating them of the origins of food, how it is produced and how everyone can benefit from healthily grown produce.
Our Education Programme is offered to schools free or charge, but we wouldn’t be able to do this without the kind donations received from the following local businesses:
Cobbs Farm Shop - Cookery School
Arlington Arts Centre - Agricultural Challenge
for Special Education
John Nike Group - Education Marquee at the
Royal County of Berkshire Show
Mick Crockford - British Sausage Week
Berkshire College of Agriculture - Design, Make
and Market Challenge
Peterley Manor Farm Shop - Cookery School
West Woodhay Garden Fair and Chilton Farms - General sponsorship
Waitrose - Breakfast Workshops
Cumberland Lodge - Autumn Harvest
If you would like to help fund a specific event or become a sponsor, please contact Jan on education@newburyshowground.co.uk – for more information.
