Rowse Honey announced as sponsors of brand new Bee & Honey Tent at The Royal County of Berkshire Show

The Newbury & District Agricultural Society are very excited to announce that Rowse Honey will be sponsoring the brand new Bee & Honey Tent at the Royal County of Berkshire Show, taking place on the 21st and 22nd September.

Rowse started in 1938 when its founder Tony Rowse started beekeeping at his home in Ewelme, Oxfordshire. Tony soon realised that his hives alone couldn’t satisfy the ever-increasing demand for honey in the UK so he began to source more honey from all over the country and as well as overseas, growing the Rowse range to encompass honeys from all over the globe, each with its own delicious taste.

Rowse offer over 20 honeys in their range, each with their own unique flavour thanks to the wide variety of plants honeybees like to visit. There’s everything from Acacia to Lime Blossom, Light & Mild and Manuka Honey or the original Rowse Squeezy Honey.

Rowse also run a programme called Hives for Lives, designed to protect the bees, help improve livelihoods through beekeeping and inspire and train the next generation of young British beefarmers. Rowse fund vital research into bee health and the protection of honey bees, carried out at the University of Sussex and also offer a sustainable pathway out of poverty by supporting communities in Ethiopia to earn income from honey.

The brand new Bee & Honey Tent will be a hive of activity, with the local Beekeepers Association offering lots of interesting and fun activities such as an observation hive of live bees, displays and demonstrations and honey tastings as well as a fun quiz for kids and a candle rolling workshop.

There will be lots of information on how we can help to protect honeybees and suggestions on types of plants, flowers and equipment we can use in our gardens.

Rowse will be creating a buzz with their own hive experience. The ‘Wonderhive’ will offer a unique sensory experience; including a wild, bee friendly meadow and a gigantic hive, which people can enter to learn about the honey making process and the chance to view a real beehive in action. Rowse will also be showcasing their Hives for Lives programme and handing out free goody bags for anyone who visits the experience.

“Rowse are delighted to be sponsoring the Bee and Honey tent this year at the Royal County of Berkshire Show, and to have the opportunity to showcase our commitment to protecting the bees through our Hives for Lives programme. We also can’t wait to bring our immersive Wonderhive experience to the show, giving people the chance to discover the natural wonder of Rowse honey.” Hayley Napier, Senior Brand Manager.
