How to do urban country chic
Our guest blogger this week is Maude & Fox, giving you some really good tips and advice for the Autumn season.
I don’t think we’ve ever seen so many seasonal trends! Puffy sleeves, wide trouser legs, old school checks, fancy collars, feathers, bold shoes and oversized bags – it’s seems hard to imagine waking up with a clear idea of what to wear. Here are three tips to how to wear the styles this Autumn.
- 1. Invest in a statement piece
- For maximum impact, invest in a really good coat, except this year it’s capes not coats. Cozy capes are both flattering and practical and we are a fan of this Autumn trend. Slip over jeans for instant smart appeal and for added indulgence go for a faux fur lined version. Luxury hoodies are also in and are the perfect answer to ensuring you are warm while looking and feeling fantastic. Add just one stunning piece to your wardrobe rotation for an easy way to update your style and stand out this season.
- 2. Layering
With unpredictable weather, the most practical and wearable clothes are those you can layer up. Gilets, waistcoats and sleeveless dresses over turtle necks work well. Make sure to mind balance by wearing a plain top with a printed dress. Dresses and trousers can also be worn together and give your Autumn wardrobe an entirely new dimension! Sophisticated tailoring is another Autumn trend – beautiful fabrics and thoughtful details after a long spell in sportswear. For a well-groomed yet casual look, wear lightweight cashmere over tees and team with pleated trousers. Bunching up with belts is a flattering look as long as the under garment is not too thick.
Both top-to-toe neutrals and bold colours are in this season so you can’t really go wrong. The best way to include colour is to keep base-layers neutral and have flashes of brights with your accessories; shoes, bags and for a subtle statement, the lining of your coat. Go for hand-cut designs with a colour twist for maximum style and flair.
