School Countryside Day

The School Countryside Days are an annual event held on the Englefield Estate over two days. A number of schools from across Berkshire attend and this is the third year the Newbury & District Agricultural Society have been involved.

Buttercup the cow and Clover the goat made an appearance and our Education Officer, Jan Murray, gave a talk about them to around 23 schools before they had the opportunity to milk them.

"It was a great opportunity to promote the Society and the education programme we run, but also to promote the Royal County of Berkshire Show. The children were very intrigued to be told that 72% of milk consumed worldwide is from a goat!"
